O.Lala

O.lala is an Iranian female artist born in 1983, Tehran, Iran. She studied painting in Iran and acquired a master’s degree in fine art in the Netherlands. She is based in Europe and since 2019 presents her artistic identity with a pseudonym. She mainly works with painting and drawing but her practice also includes a wide range of other media such as sculpture, fashion, writing and performance.

Within this broad field, she takes a critical stand by rejecting canonical views on femininity and challenges them by expressing emancipation, humor and intimacy through her bold and imaginative works. Her iconography emanates equally from her personal upbringing but also from collective experiences and realities that shape and affect the female identity in the contemporary world.
